Saidal Group Resumes Production at Former Hop Pharma Facility in Constantine

Saidal Group's Director General, Younes Bouarara, oversaw the gradual restart of production lines at the former Hop Pharma facility in Constantine on Thursday, August 20. The facility was placed under the operational exploitation of Saidal Group by virtue of decisions No. 24/0049 and 24/0014, with Saidal Group now managing its operations. Saidal Group stated this represents a "strategic step in supporting and developing the national pharmaceutical industry." The restart process is part of a gradual and studied approach overseen by Saidal Group's management. This methodical strategy aims to optimally exploit the site's capacities and capabilities, considering technical requirements, human resources, and national market needs.

Production lines are being reactivated based on priorities for essential pharmaceutical products, aiming to enhance availability and prevent supply disruptions. Specifically, production line restarts are programmed according to priorities that meet the needs of the national market, especially for pharmaceutical products of importance and priority for patients and the national health system. This is intended to enhance availability and avoid potential disruptions or tensions in supply. Saidal Group emphasized it is "not just resuming the activity of a production unit," but undertaking a broader strategic initiative.

Operational Strategy and Workforce Integration

Workers and employees will be gradually reintegrated and reabsorbed in parallel with the resumption of activity and the development of production operations, according to the needs of each phase. The process will prioritize valuing the competencies and expertise accumulated by the site's workers and management over years of work in the pharmaceutical field. This focus on human resources shows Saidal Group's commitment to retaining valuable knowledge within the national pharmaceutical sector.

During the work and reorganization period, production of some pharmaceutical products previously manufactured at Saidal's unit in Medea will be transferred to the former Hop Pharma site in Constantine. This transfer aims to maintain production pace and ensure availability in the national market, Saidal Group stated, while also optimizing the use of the newly reactivated facility.

Strategic Importance for National Industry

Saidal Group considers the restart of this site a strategic step in supporting and developing the national pharmaceutical industry. This initiative is key for preserving expertise and competencies, valuing human resources, and strengthening national production capacities. This initiative, according to Saidal Group, "تمثل خطوة استراتيجية في مسار دعم وتطوير الصناعة الصيدلانية الوطنية، والحفاظ على الخبرات والكفاءات، وتثمين الموارد البشرية، وتعزيز القدرات الإنتاجية الوطنية." The group emphasized that the effort is "على استئناف نشاط وحدة إنتاجية فحسب" but a broader commitment to national pharmaceutical security. The company stated that this will contribute to consolidating pharmaceutical security and ensuring the continuity of supply to the national market.

Broader Impact and Future Outlook

The restart of the former Hop Pharma facility by Saidal Group in Constantine is expected to have significant implications for Algeria's pharmaceutical sector. The move aims to bolster the nation's capacity for drug production, contributing to self-sufficiency in essential medicines. By reactivating existing infrastructure and integrating experienced personnel, Saidal Group seeks to strengthen the domestic supply chain and reduce reliance on imports. This strategy aligns with broader national efforts to develop local industries and ensure pharmaceutical security for the Algerian population. The gradual reintegration of workers and the transfer of production from Saidal's Medea unit to Constantine show a methodical approach to maximizing operational efficiency and maintaining product availability. Saidal Group's initiative is positioned as a key step in developing the national pharmaceutical industry, preserving expertise, and enhancing overall production capabilities.
